Heather Dodd

Heather was raised on a ranch near Lundbreck, in the southwestern corner of Alberta, Canada.

With her love of nature and the outdoors, she is well suited for her lifestyle of raising cattle and the business of “Room To Grow Market Farm” that her and her husband, Norman, own and operate in the Glenwood area.

In the winter months, when the garden is asleep, Heather finds time for her real passion, to paint.

The mediums she works with most are watercolor and acrylic, but she does not confine herself to just those, and is often trying other ventures using pastels, oils, pen and pencil.

Heather has attended several short workshops, but is basically self-taught.

Inspiration for her detailed work comes from nearby. The unequaled scenery in southern Alberta, farm experience, garden flowers, and most important, her family, all lend to getting those artistic ideas flowing.

Heather belongs to several local art groups where everyone encourages each other and it is a great environment to learn about art.

Heather joined the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (ACACA) in 2004, and has had the honor of winning several awards in the Southern Zone Shows. These being: “People’s Choice” in 2006, “Advanced” Category 2010, “Martha Houston Award” (Alberta Wide winner in Advanced Category) 2008, “Jurors Choice” 2006, 2008, and 2010 and most recently the “Master’s” Category Award in the Zone show and the “President’s Award” in the Alberta Wide Show in 2011.

Heather loves to use color and detail to make the viewer a little more aware of the intricacies of nature.
