Janet Sheen

I am an artist who basically uses the medium of oil paint. Occasionally I use acrylics and watercolors. My preferred topics are florals and landscapes, but I enjoy abstracts as well. Generally I prefer large formats.

I have a painting ‘buddy’ with whom I usually paint 2 to 3 times a week, about 10 to 15 hours a week. I am basically a studio artist using my photos and sketches gathered from trips and various back country and garden visits.

I have a few university courses in art, and have taken many workshops and painting retreats, but most of my training is from studying art publications, visiting galleries and art shows, observing fellow artists and the “learn-by-your-mistakes” methods.

I have taken part in many shows both locally with the Lethbridge Artist Club (LAC), the Southern Alberta Artists Association (SAAA), and the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (ACACA).

I was part of a Two Woman Art Show staged at the Joan Waterfield Gallery in 2015.

I won the Advance Category twice (2015, 2013) in the Southern Zone Show of the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association.

I enjoy teaching and offering help to those aspiring to paint in the medium of oil paints.
